Biographical Text

Edgar Leonidas Clark moved to Parowan, Utah in 1857 and remained there his whole life. Clark bred and raised livestock, primarily sheep, cattle, and horses. He was a great lover of horses. From 1889 until 1910, Clark was an agent for B. F. Saunders, owner of the largest cattle herd in Utah at the time. Clark traveled the west to evaluate potential grazing lands, including Alaska, in 1903. He served on the Parowan City Council and in other positions of trust, including postmaster, and bank president. Clark died in 1921 from kidney disease.

As a state representative “his actions there were always consistent with the principles of his party" (Drumm 1896, 85).
