Biographical Text

Adelbert Cazier was a civic-minded businessman. He founded the successful Cazier Bros. and Co. Clothing store in Nephi, Utah, and operated a nearby stone quarry. Additionally, he established and later managed the Nebo Salt Manufacturing Company that did business from the west coast to the Missouri River. Later in life, Cazier had a prominent career in construction, building railroad infrastructure in Canada.

“Quick of comprehension and firm in what his good judgement has determined to be right,” Cazier won his seat as a state representative in a sweeping victory (Drumm 1896, 87). He served as chairman of the Railroads Committee and authored bills regarding farmers’ institutes and establishing bounties for growing canaigre root and manufacturing leather.
