Biographical Text

Joseph Riggs Murdock attended Brigham Young Academy in 1877 and received his teacher’s certificate. He was elected Wasatch County selectman for three terms. Murdock “took an active part” in the 1895 Constitutional Convention (Drumm 1896, 82). While engaged in the mercantile business, Murdock also pursued agricultural interests, particularly dairy. He established one of Utah’s most successful creameries.
