  • Description is exactly "This ribbon was Judge Alfred Saxey's, and is a Republican State Convention commemorative ribbon. Red satin fabric with black lettering that says,"DELEGATE Republican State Convention MT. PLEASANT, Sept 24, 1896." At center are ovals with male busts side by side and the words,"PROTECTION" and "Sound Money".

    Alfred Saxey served as First Lieutenant in the 10th Kansas Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, he then studied and practiced law in Kansas. Mr. Saxey married Sarah Tilden in 1874 and they had five children before moving to Utah in the late 1880s. He practiced law in Utah and served as a judge, living in Provo and then Spanish Fork."
